Amanda's Musings

Okay, so Zoë has this crib. Scott and I spent a long time looking at all the cribs in the store. We worked the sides, inspected the quality and debated the features. We ended up choosig the most expensive crib in the store and my parents very generously bought it for us. I assembled it, put in the mattress and hung the mobile. We stood next to it, looking down into the empty space that would soon be filled with a baby.

Zoë's been in it twice. Once she was actually sleeping and the second time I played the mobile to which she paid no attention.

What's in the crib if not a baby? you ask. Her car set, the Sock Monkey Beckett Gladney made for her (thanks Beck!), a stuffed Tigger, a couple blankets, a teddy bear and a crib light that's still in the box. We've also used it to hang little things on to dry.

Money well spent? We'll know in a year.

zoë is starting to hold her head up for short periods of time. This amazes Scott and I. We keep saying to each other "She's growing up!" Last night Zoë and I were up. Or rather, Zoë was up and I was trying to get her to go to sleep. Saturday Night Live was on and Zoë had just gotten a new diaper. I decided to have a glass of milk. I got the fridge open, the milk out and a glass out with one hand and was getting ready to pour when Zoë reared up from my shoulder, swerved to the left and tried to latch onto my face. She surprised me so much I spilled milk everywhere and stared laughing. She also slobbered all over my face. (Just giving me some coming attractions)

We've had a pattern of every other day Zoë wants to be nursing if she's awake and then spends the next day sleeping alot. Yesterday was a nursing day. I, of course, am convinced that I'm giving her food whenever she cries without trying anything else and have given her an eating disorder already.

Scott leaves for Los Angeles tomorrow until the fourth so Zoë and I will be on our own for two full days and two partial days. I should call my aunt and warn her.

September 29th. 2001

Zoë is one month old today. I need to take a picture of her or my mom will be upset.

She's doing all kinds of stuff.

Some of her favorite things to do are:

Sucking on anyone's pinky finger. She won't take a pacifier but she likes fingers.

She likes to wait until you take her diaper off on the changing table and then pees. She usually waits until I've turned my head to get a new diaper before letting go. Quite often she spits up right after this and then looks very pleased with herself.

Sleeping on her daddy's chest.

Eating... and eating... and eating.... and eating.....

Looking at her small Tigger rattle. She's tracking objects well now. She turns her head to look at things, not just her eyes.

Fighting off naps during the day. There's just too much to do!

Wow! Two for one special!

Here is my new way of posting musings. I wonder if it works?

This will hopefully be a better way for Amanda to keep her Musing's up to date without have to rely on her dead-beat husband to upload HTML for her. :) Let us know if it doesn't work out. :) cosmo@sonomancer.com
